This page is an attempt to preserve the little history we have left on the Monarch family. They originally came from Nackawic, New Brunswick and were involved in the establishment of the village in the 1970s. They were one of the many families that were displaced by the Mactaquac Dam. The last member of the Monarch family, David Monarch, died on August 9th, 2010 in the fire that also destroyed the Monarch family home. Outside of that house there are few to no records left on the family; all that are found will be put on this site. The picture here is of Peter Joseph Monarch, who went missing on May 16th, 2006, and many say was the start of the end of the Monarch name. - Stan Smith 08/13/2014
